V leopard.jpgAlastair Lawson joined the film industry after operating a very successful photographic studio in Cape Town. Feeling the need to expand his creativity and knowledge, Alastair moved up to Johannesburg and began a new chapter in his career. Working mainly on feature films and cinema commercial.

Starting off right at the bottom as a runner, Alastair chose to work his way through the industry, one department at a time. Alastair developed skills in film lighting, art department, second unit camera, unit/location manager, production manager and first assistant director on feature films.
Eventually Alastair moved on from freelance work to working as producer/director/cameraman, first for Adrian Steed and Filmcor then for Max Katz and associates. Once confident, Alastair starting up ALP-Alastair Lawson Productions, specializing in video productions for corporate clients.

ALP developed a very successful production company and over the years has now produced work for some of the largest and most prominent companies in South Africa and abroad.

Alastair took a break from the corporate environment to follow his passion and spent the next six years producing and shooting wildlife films mainly in Botswana.

Alastair and ALP have now developed into a very cohesive and effective company that offers a collection of Alastair's skills, all targeted at client satisfaction.

ALP is now fully equipped with our own broadcast quality video camera, sound and editing equipment. And we are able to produce most productions completely in-house.

V mine.jpgUnlike the larger video production houses, ALP has a very small footprint. Our crew only consists of Alastair, director/camera & sound and Anna as production and location manager. This means that our presence is not disruptive to locations such as lodges and construction sites. Not to mention how a small crew affects the budget.

Have your Marketing video clips viewable to millions worldwide 24/7 Free of charge.
As broadband technology keeps improving, technology is advancing in leaps and bounds. One of the greatest leaps forward in visual presentation is the ability to present and share video material worldwide almost instantly via the internet, cell phones and on iPods.

Systems and tools are now available to everyone to distribute, share and present video material anywhere in the world, virtually free of charge.
alp-and-tube.png
After following this technology and analyzing how best to use this technology to improve marketing potential for our clients, ALP has registered ALPwebTV with YouTube as a dedicated channel for ALP clients.

ALP is now able to shoot, edit and upload your video clips onto YouTube in the correct format with all the necessary searchable keywords, into your own dedicated Playlist. ALP will then supply your web developer with the source code to embed your video player into your website.

INTERESTED IN MARKETING VIA VIDEO?
ALP has developed a very simple formular to reduce costs and make video production simpler.
  1. Keep your video clips between 3 and 5 minutes long
  2. We shoot an interview with someone responsible for that section
  3. We shoot visuals that match what is said in the interview
  4. We edit the video with logos, web address and email contacts
  5. We create a section on YouTube under ALPwebTV and upload your video
  6. We insert all the necessary search keywords
  7. We supply your webmaster with player source codes for your website
Generally it is fair to say that we can shoot one, 3 to 5 minute video clip with interviews in one day, (excluding travel and subject to complexity of the subject).

SHOOT EXAMPLE
We are going to shoot a video clip about accommodation at a lodge.
We start by interviewing the lodge manager who talks for 3 minutes about the rooms, the room features and the views.
We then shoot visuals that match what was said in the interview. The bedrom, bathroom, special features and the view.
In the edit we marry the pictures to the voice, resulting in a professional, informative video clip that gives viewers a good understanding of what to expect.

COST
This set formula of producing a video means that we can quote a set price to produce such a video clip.

The price of R15 000
includes:
All video equipment, cameraman and production manager
One day of shooting
Editing and image compression for internet
Uploading into the ALPwebTV channel on YouTube
Video player source code for your website

The price excludes:
Travel, Accommodation
 & meals
Professional presenter (if you require)

WORKING EXAMPLE
Below is
a working example of video clips shot for a lodge called Babohi Private Game Lodge.
These clips were all shot during the construction phase of the lodge, therefore we never had a lodge manager to interview, giving us the voice over track we suggest doing for future work.

All these video clips actually reside on the YouTube server and are not part of our website, therefore not affecting our bandwidth or our monthly ISP account.

Because these video clips actually sit on the YouTube server, if a guest searches on Google or YouTube for Babohi, all these Babohi clips will show in the results.

Try it for yourself. Go to Google Video and type in Babohi into the search box.

NEXT STEP
If this new concept interest you, or you wish to learn more, please contact anna@alp.co.za for a meeting to discuss it further.

If you recieve a, "This Video is no longer available" message, it means youTube is busy. Please re-click until it works.

This Barra Cabanas Video is a sample that is uploaded in YouTube in order for our client who is based in Mozabique to see the work in progress and to give him an idea of the production.  This is the beauty of YouTube you as a client can view the production from anywhere in the world. ALP is returning to Mozambique shortly to complete the marketing shoot, in this instance we went to shoot mainly because the helicopter was available to do aerials.

As this is a new concept for most of us to grasp, please ask any questions you may have.
