PRICE GUIDELINE ALP is the first to acknowlage that every photoshoot is unique with different challenges and situations. Therefore we prefere to first discuss the clients needs and requirements before giving a final quotation. Below is a guideline of how ALP structures out pricing. To request a Password to view our prices, contact anna@alp.co.za PRICE BREAKDOWN Photographic costs to clients are broken down into different categories. Some shoots have more categories than others. This section helps you understand the costing categories. TIME Based on the photographers experience, skill and infrastructure, a photographer determines his time value to charge out on. ALP's time value is based on days or half days. In other words, time spent away from the office to shoot for a client, is broken down into half day (4 hours) or full day (10 hours). So when quoting, ALP will determine how much time is required to complete the shoot. If a shoot is longer that 3 days in a row, ALP will reduce the daily fee on the quote. ADDITIONAL Each shoot is unique and has different needs and requirements. If your shoot requires other costs to make the shoot happen, these costs are usually passed on to you directly for payment. This could include items such as: Models, makeup, accommodation, travel, Helicopter hire, catering or props. POST PRODUCTION Some shoots require more post production than others. Post production is a very important part of producing an excellent photograph. It is taking the original picture and processing it into the correct format and size for print reproduction, website display or other uses. Here we convert the pictures into color profiles such as RGB or CMYK and we adjust the DPI to match the required usage of the picture. Most jobs require pictures to be delivered in multi format files. * JPEG, small size, RGB, low DPI for viewing on your computer or websites * Medium size JPEG, CMYK, high resolution, for E-mailing to magazine publications * Large file TIFF, 300 DPI, CMYK, for high quality printing in brochures or posters Unless the post production is particularly complicated, ALP does not charge for this service. PHOTO MANIPULATION To do Photo Manipulation correctly, is a highly skilled discipline on its own, and ALP is very competent in doing advanced image manipulation. Day-to-day manipulation would cover things like, removing unwanted areas in a picture such as cracks in walls, unattractive poles and pipes, blemishes on skin, tags on clothing or ugly reflections in windows. Advanced manipulation can be anything the creative mind may want. Replace the background, add new elements to the image, change colors or textures of items or build an entire picture into something that never really existed before. Architectural manipulation. When photographing a building or structure we are up against a thing called Error of Parallax. This is where parallel lines start to converge. Imagine taking a picture from the ground of a skyscraper. In the picture the building will actually appear to taper off towards the top. Architecturally this is incorrect and image manipulation is used to correct this error. ALP uses this correction on almost every picture taken of a building, lodge, bathroom,bedroom or lounge. Although hardly ever noticed by the viewer, a corrected picture will have a professional feel about it and will seem more impressive. Depending on the complexity of the manipulation, ALP charges this service out on either an hourly rate or on a per picture rate. | SPECIFIC PRICING BY SUBJECT AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY When quoting for Aerial Photography we need to ascertain whether we are using helicopters or aeroplanes to shoot from. Generally we prefer to shoot from helecopters with the door removed. The costs of the helicopter or aeroplane hire gets billed directly to our client. The actually photography, will be billed out as per our daily rate. MODEL PHOTOGRAPHY Portfolios & Private shoots Magazine Fashion Shoots Catalogue Fashion Shoots (website or magazine) Model Photography is billed out on a daily rate. Clients are generally responsible for Model, Makeup, Hair and studio costs directly. ALP is happy to negotiate a reduced fee for new models needing a portfolio, but will be subject to ALP availability. PRODUCT / CATALOGUE PHOTOGRAPHY This generally discribes a collection of photographs taken one after the other and usually shot in a studio to show a collection of products or items. Pack Shot photography is a specialist type of photography and styling and lighting play a very important roll. Although all the products may be shot under a simular lighting setup, the initial setup and tests can be labourious and technical. Therfore a setup fee is charged to establish a standard styling and lighting setup for the rest of the products. Many products: A set fee per product is charged Few Products: Our daily fee is charged FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY Food photography is another of ALP's speciality. Food can be shot on location or in a studio, depending on accessability to a kitchen, the chef or a stylist. Either way, ALP will create a studio environment to shoot in, as food need specific lighting conditions. If food pictures are part of a shoot, (a lodge or hotel as an example) this will be included into the normal daily fee. If it is only food we are photographing the same fee structure as Product/catalogue photography will apply. Many products: A Setup fee plus a set fee per product is charged Few Products: A Setup fee plus our daily fee is charged ARCHITECTURE/ LODGES / HOTELS & REAL ESTATE PHOTOGRAPHY Architecture photorgaphy such as photographing lodges, real estate and buildings, is billed out at a daily rate. Travel expenses and accommodation and meals expenses are not included in the photography rate. These costs are for the account of the client. If we have shot many rooms, views, angles and buildings, a fee for Image Manipulation may need to be included in the price. OTHER Wildlife Landscape Industrial These areas of photography are billed out on a daily basis. TAKING ALP PHOTOGRAPHY TO THE NEXT LEVEL ALP enjoys seeing a job through to the very end. If you require brochure design, magazine adverts, posters or fliers designed, ALP is very compident in graphic design. Design fees are worked out according to the complexity of the work required. |
